Harrisonville Man Charged with Armed Robbery

Law enforcement officers with the Cass County Sheriff's Office, Harrisonville Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested a Harrisonville man in the early hours of Friday July 4th after it was reported that he had stolen a vehicle and robbed two fireworks tents in Cass County.

Around 11:45 p.m. on July 3, 2015 the Cass County Sheriff's Office received a report of a black truck stolen in the 21000 block of E. 299th south of Harrisonville. Approximately 30 minutes later employees at a fireworks tent located at I-49 and S. St. Rt. 7 reported that a black truck pulled up and a white male armed with a rifle ordered them to load fireworks in the truck. The employees were not injured and the suspect fled with scene with over $1,900.00 in fireworks.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. deputies responded to assist Harrisonville Police Officers who were pursuing a subject in a black GMC truck after it was a reported that a white male driving the truck had robbed a fireworks tent in the area of 291 Hwy and Commercial St.

Officers pursued the vehicle north on 7 Hwy and into the area of E. 215th and S. Ore Rd where the suspect drove the vehicle into a farm field. More than a dozen law enforcement officers surrounded the area. The suspect was taken into custody about 2 hours later when he was located in a timber area by Sheriff's Office K9.

The suspect, Jonathan M. Wilson, 19 of Harrisonville was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

On Friday July 4th the Cass County Prosecutor's Office charged Mr. Wilson with 2 counts of Robbery 1st Degree, 2 counts of Resist Arrest by Fleeing, and Tampering 1st Degree. Wilson is also being held on 10 municipal warrants from Harrisonville and 4 from Lee's Summit. He is currently in custody at the Cass County Jail on a bond of $213,345.00.
