Cass County Sheriff to Provide D.A.R.E in Archie Schools

The Cass County Sheriff's Office and Archie School District are pleased to announce the implementation of the D.A.R.E. Program in the district. A cooperative agreement between Sheriff Jeff Weber and Superintendent Jeff Kramer will ensure that students in 5th and 6th grade will receive enhanced lessons on subjects that include bullying, internet safety, and over-the-counter prescription drug and opiates abuse.

The program had previously been conducted by the Archie Police Department, however due to the loss of the department's DARE instructor the program was stopped. "We are pleased that we have the ability to step in and help. It's important that law enforcement continue to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the district" said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

The Archie School District is the seventh school in Cass County provided D.A.R.E. by the Cass County Sheriff's Office. The program is taught weekly and will last approximately 10 weeks. Students who successfully complete the program will take part in a graduation program.

DARE Instructors Deputy Christine Eddleman and Deputy Stacy Gunn will instruct the program.
