Texas Man Killed in Car Accident

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the name of a Texas man who died in a single vehicle accident on January 1 around 5:30 p.m.
According to deputies investigating the accident, Jeffrey L. Gumminger, 53, of College Station, Texas was traveling eastbound on East 245th Street west of East Orient Cemetery Road and collided with a guard rail before leaving the roadway. Gumminger’s 2000 Chevrolet truck then went off of a bridge and fell approximately 25 feet before landing on its top.
Emergency Responders attempted to free Gumminger from the vehicle, however he was pronounce deceased at the scene. Gumminger was the only occupant of the vehicle and the accident was called in by a passing motorist who saw the vehicle in the creek.
Gumminger was not wearing a seat belt. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
