Tactical Team Arrest Rape Suspect

A Harrisonville man was arrested around 11:45 pm on Tuesday night when the Cass County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team served a search warrant on a house in the 28000 block of E. 245th in rural Harrisonville. The search warrant is part of an ongoing sexual assault investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday January 21, 2020, Cass County Deputies were contacted by a female who reported that she had been sexual assaulted at a residence in the 28000 block of E. 245th in rural Harrisonville. Investigators secured a search warrant for the residence. The Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team executed the search warrant and located the suspect inside the residence.
Stephen A. Mattox, 54, Harrisonville was taken into custody without incident for active misdemeanor warrants in Cass County and Harrisonville.
On Wednesday the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office charged Stephen Mattox with Rape or Attempted Rape 1st Degree and Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy. His bond has been set at $50,000 Cash Only.
Mattox is currently in custody in the Cass County Jail on this warrant and three others:
- Failure to Appear Careless and Imprudent Driving – Cass County – Bond $100.00
- Failure to Appear Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Cass County – Bond $100.00
- Failure to Appear Drug Paraphernalia – Harrisonville – Bond $300.00
