A double fatal house fire in rural Cass County is currently under investigation in the 18000 block of S. Shimel Rd. Strasburg Missouri. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasant Hill Fire Department and the Missouri State Fire Marshalls Office are investigating.

First responders were called to the scene around 4:10 am this morning. First responders stated that the single wide trailer was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival.

One occupant managed to make it out of the home and was treated for injuries. Investigators have confirmed that two occupants died inside the residence.

The identity of the victims has not been confirmed at this time. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting.

Victims Identified

The victims in the fatal house fire on Friday have been identified as James A. Garrett, 78, and his son Dennis W. Garrett, 50, of Strasburg. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
