Tips Needed in Homicide Case

One year ago investigators discovered the remains of 18-year-old Vernece A. Brown of Kansas City in a wooded area north of Harrisonville. The body was discovered by mushroom hunters in the area of S. Mopac Road and E. 235th Street on April 28, 2018. The investigation revealed that Vernece Brown was a missing person reported to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department. Ms. Brown was reported missing by family after leaving her home near 36th and Bales, on the night of February 14th, 2018. Investigators determined that the case is now a homicide and are asking for the public’s help.

“Detectives from our office and around the Kansas City area have put in countless hours investigating this case. At this point we need the public’s help to provide us with a tip or piece of information that can help solve this crime. This family deserves to know what happened to their daughter.” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.
