Large Grass Fire in Cass County

Currently 8 fire departments are battling a large grass fire of approximately 100 acres in Cass County. The fire scene is located near State Route 2 between Holmes and State Line.
Due to the large amount of smoke crossing the road deputies are currently assisting with traffic control in the area (the highway is open), but encourage motorist to avoid the area if possible.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office Disaster Emergency Response Team is also assisting.
