Search Continues

Today investigators were able to complete a search of the target area which consisted of approximately 15 acres.
Investigators narrowed the field of operations to approximately 2 acres that they have spent an increased amount of time concentrating their examination.
At this time we are planning on returning Friday with a scaled down number of specialized crime scene technicians and investigators.
Because this case is connected with KCPD active homicide investigation we won’t be releasing what information about what has been recovered at the scene. Any human remains will continue to be sent to the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Agencies that are on scene assisting in the investigation include the following: Belton Police, Kansas City Police, Raymore Police Department, FBI, Jackson County Medical Examiner Office, Academy recruits from MCC Blue River, Wyandotte County, and Kansas City Police Academy. Western Cass Fire and Belton Fire/EMS Department and Take it To the Streets are providing support for the operation.
