04-18-16Monday, 04-18-16, at approximately 1815 hours, deputies responded to the 300 block of Morrison, in rural Raymore on a stealing in progress. The reporting party advised that an unknown male was stealing a trailer at that location. A patrol deputy was assisted by a detective, who was on his way home, when the call was received.

Upon their arrival the suspect was attempting to leave the scene with the trailer, driving what was later discovered to be a stolen 3/4 ton truck, when he rammed the patrol vehicle causing significant damage. The subject exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. The Detective gave chase, and was injured while scaling a fence that collapsed. He was treated at a local hospital and released with minor injuries. A K9 unit responded to the scene, but with the inclement weather conditions we were unable to locate the suspect.

04-18-16“We are thankful that our deputies are alright and that their injuries were not more severe”, stated Major Jeff Weber. “Anytime a suspect uses a vehicle as a weapon to ram deputies, it is a dangerous situation”.
