Major Kevin Tieman,
Cass County Sheriff’s Office

Carjacking Suspects ArrestedAround 8:00 Monday morning a deputy in the area of North Cass Parkway and I-49 observed a vehicle and occupants matching the description of individuals wanted for an armed robbery and carjacking that occurred in Raymore.

The deputy pursued the vehicle, a 2016 silver Dodge Charger, northbound on I-49 from North Cass Parkway. The driver continued to flee at a high rate of speed and exited I-49 at E. 155th Street. The driver failed to negotiate the intersection and struck the concrete median causing extensive damage to the vehicle.

The deputy then saw two subjects run from the vehicle. After a short foot chase, one subject was tased and fought with the deputy before being arrested. The second subject was located hiding near the scene about 45 minutes later with the assistance of officers from the Grandview Police Department, Belton Police Department and Kansas City Police Department K9 Unit. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Raymore Police Department also assisted deputies.

Deputies recovered two firearms inside the vehicle. The suspects, identified as juveniles, and firearms were released to Raymore Police Officers for their ongoing investigation.

One deputy was treated and released at an area hospital for injuries sustained during the foot chase. “Deputies work day and night to protect our communities and this is just another example of violent criminals who will go to any length to avoid the law. Driving at high speeds, fighting and injuring law enforcement officers will not be tolerated,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

No further information is available at this time. Information regarding formal charges were forwarded to the Cass County Juvenile Office.
