Three Charged in Multiple Car Thefts

Cass Co. – Three Belton men have been charged and arrested in the theft of three vehicles in Cass County on May 15 and 16th. During that time, it was reported that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala was stolen from the area of 175th and Allendale Dr, a 1990 Ford F150 was stolen from 227th and Cleveland, and a third vehicle, a 1999 Ford Taurus was stolen in the 8900 block of 226th St. A fourth vehicle was reported stolen to the Cleveland Police Department during the same period, charges are pending in that case. The case began to unravel when Belton Police Officers arrested Daniel A. Tattershall who at that time was allegedly in possession of tools stolen from a truck in the 21000 block of Cleveland Rd the same night. Cass County Investigators quickly followed the trail of the three subjects has they traveled throughout the county attempting to use a stolen credit card taken from one of the vehicles. Evidence collected from those businesses lead to the arrest of the three Belton men. “With the communication and cooperation of the Belton and Cleveland Police Departments the Cass County Sheriff’s Office was able to quickly apprehend these individuals who victimized the citizens of Cass County. The dedication and numerous hours of investigation by our detectives lead to the location of all the stolen vehicles and quick arrest of the suspects” said Detective Sergeant Steve Whitmore.

Cristhian Mansilla, 18, and Jeremy Cooper, 27, are charged with three counts of Tampering First Degree and Fraud use of credit/debt device. A third man Daniel A. Tattershall, 17, is charged with one count of Tampering First Degree. Mansilla is being held on a $7500.00 bond and Cooper is being held on a $5000.00 bond. Both are currently in custody at the Cass County Jail. Tattershall was released after posting a $7500.00 bond. Cooper and Tattershall are expected in court June 5th. Mansilla’s next court date is set for July 3rd.
