Public Information Officer:

Major Kevin Tieman,
Cass County Sheriff’s Office
816-380-8615

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has assigned two detectives to assist the Metro Squad Investigation of a Grandview Homicide over the weekend.

Grandview police requested the assistance of the Metro Squad to investigate a homicide in the 6100 block of East 126th Street in Grandview.

At 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, Grandview officers found two victims in the area with gunshots wounds. Both victims were transported to the hospital. A 20-year-old man died and a 22-year-old man is in stable, but critical condition.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black sedan, seen leaving the area occupied by at least two suspects. A second vehicle, a light colored sedan, seen in the area is believed to be connected to the shooting.

“The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has been part of the Kansas City Metro Squad since its inception in 1964. Assisting the Metro Squad is the type of cooperation among law enforcement that it sometimes takes to bring to justice the criminal element that has no respect for city, county or state lines,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber

Investigators will be assigned to the Metro Squad through the end of the week. Anyone with information is asked to call (816) 474-TIPS.
