Sheriff’s Office to Issue ATV/UTV Permits

Public Information Officer:
January 20th, 2022
Major Kevin Tieman,
Cass County Sheriff’s Office
816-380-8615

07-23-20Beginning August 10th, 2020 the Cass County Sheriff’s Office will begin issuing permits to owners of All-Terrain Vehicle, Utility Vehicle, and Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles who wish to operate them on county roads.

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and complete the permit application for each vehicle they wish to permit. Per the Cass County Ordinance, the applicant will need to provide proof of Missouri State minimum liability insurance listing the ATV/UTV/ROHV, make, model, and serial number of the vehicle. The permit fee is $15.00 and the permit is valid for one year.

The permit allows the vehicle to be operated on county road within Cass County. Drivers are advised to contact their local city regarding ordinances allowing operation on city streets. The permit does not allow operation on state highways. All-terrain vehicles operated for agricultural purposes are exempt from the need for a permit.

“Cass County has many rural areas where people enjoy driving ATVs, UTVs, and ROHVs in a responsible manner. This permit allows for the legal operation of these vehicles on county roads. Please be safe,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.
