Cass County Deputy Seizes 10 Pounds of Marijuana

Two people are in custody after a Cass County Deputy stopped their vehicle and recovered around 10 pounds of marijuana last night south of Harrisonville. While talking with the driver the odor of marijuana was so strong that the deputy was able to smell it in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the marijuana. *This is a distinct example of our continued fight against illegal drugs and the crimes that are associated with substance abuse.* Said Sheriff Dwight Diehl

08-02-12 – UPDATE

30 year old John W. Martinez of Raymore was charged today with Class B Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute after a Cass County Deputy stopped his vehicle and recovered approximately 10 pounds of marijuana last night south of Harrisonville. While talking with the driver the odor of marijuana was so strong that the deputy was able to smell it in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the marijuana.

Martinez is in custody at the Cass County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
