School Resource Officers in Three County Schools Announced

Public Information Officer:
January 20th, 2022
Major Kevin Tieman,
Cass County Sheriff’s Office
816-380-8615

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and area school districts are taking measures to ensure the safety of its students, starting with the appointment of three new school resource officer positions. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and three area school districts have contracted to cost share the expense of a full time deputy in each school district for the 2019-2020 school year.

Specially trained deputies will be assigned to the Pleasant Hill School District, Ray-Pec School District and Sherwood School District starting next week. The agreement allows for the presence of a uniformed deputy in the district for every school day.

“This partnership with our school districts shows our parents and community that we take the safety of students and staff seriously,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber. “Having an officer in the school full-time allows them improve safety plans and protocols. It’s a very beneficial situation for everyone.”

School resource officers started meeting and training in their district this week in preparation for the start of school.
