Harrisonville Man Killed in Accident

On Sunday, October 11, 2011 at 5:47 p.m., Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on S. St. Rt. 7 at S. Raffurty Rd.
According to Deputies at the scene, Edward W. Carter Jr., 31 of Harrisonville was southbound on 7 Hwy in a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass on S. St. Rt. 7 south of Pleasant Hill. Mr. Carter’s vehicle ran off the west side of the road and then crossed over the centerline. Mr. Carter’s vehicle was struck by a northbound 2011 Nissan Frontier driven by Charles A. Willis, 50 of Harrisonville.
Mr. Carter sustained fatal injuries at the scene and Mr. Willis was lifeflighted with non-life threatening injuries. There were no other occupants and both were wearing seatbelts.
The crash is still being investigated and will be reconstructed by the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.
