The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and area school districts are taking measures to ensure the safety of its students, with the appointment of six school resource officer positions. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is contracted with the five school districts to share the expense of a full time deputy in each school district for the 2023-2024 school year.

Specially trained deputies are assigned to the Pleasant Hill School District, Raymore-Peculiar School District, Sherwood School District, Strasburg School District and Drexel School District. The agreement allows for the presence of a uniformed deputy in every school. Pleasant Hill and Sherwood have one uniformed deputy in the district during school time. Ray-Pec School District has three uniformed deputies in the district during school time. Strasburg School District and Drexel School District share one uniformed deputy between the schools.

This partnership with our school districts shows our parents and community that we take the safety of students and staff seriously,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber. “Having an officer in the school full-time allows them to improve safety plans and protocols. It’s a very beneficial situation for everyone.
