Control Room Operator

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Control Room Operator.
Starting salary is $46,076.

  • Operation of Master control room
  • Operation of Secondary control room
  • Perform head count of inmates
  • Book new inmates into the facility, assists inmates in placing telephone calls, bonds inmates, and distributes mail.
  • Maintain a daily activity log.
  • Maintain contact with various governmental agencies.
  • Maintain security within and around all areas of the jail facility
  • Take care of the basic needs of the inmates.
  • Supervise and control all Inmates activity within the jail.
  • Supervise inmate legal calls
  • Initiates and/or responds to emergency codes throughout the jail and courthouse.
  • Enforces Inmate rules and initiates disciplinary action if necessary.
  • Testifies in court, prepares reports, correspondence and maintains a variety of records
  • Enforces the rules and regulations set forth by the Cass County Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
  • Use two-way radio in stressful and non-stressful situations and must be able to communicate effectively and in compliance with FCC regulations
  • Shift work and potential to be called for duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
  • Follow all policies as set forth within the Cass County Sheriff’s Office policy manual and the Cass County Personnel Policies Manual
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must posses a high school diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • Must have and maintain a valid Operator License
  • Must have the necessary skills to perform the duties of a Civilian Jailer as described herein
  • Any other qualifications established by Cass County Sheriff’s Office Policy.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Knowledge of:

  • Cass County policies, procedures, rules, and regulations;
  • Federal Law and Revised Statutes of Missouri and the relation of each as it pertains to adult offenders

Skilled in:

  • Observing situations and objectively making quick decisions and recording information clearly and completely
  • Basic computer functions and commands

Ability to:

    • Work hours assigned including nights, weekends, and holidays;
    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
    • Function effectively in high-pressure and stressful situations;
    • Perform duties in full uniform in a variety of conditions including adverse weather and other environmental conditions. Duties may include standing, sitting, jumping, climbing, running, lifting and other physical exertion in a sudden manner and/or for long periods of time
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, other law enforcement agencies and personnel, members of the sheriff’s Office, Cass County Courts and Prosecutorial Staff, and other entities and personnel necessary to meet the goal of the Sheriff’s Office
    • Analyze and document information obtained through the course of an investigation

Exposure to dangerous chemicals or substances (blood and viral pathogens), adverse weather, dangerous persons or animals, and/or circumstances;
