Pleasant Hill Death and Fire Ruled Suicide

Deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters from Pleasant Hill and South Metro Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 18000 block of S. St. Rt. BB west of Pleasant Hill Saturday night around 11:30pm. Neighbors called 9-1-1 after hearing a gunshot and finding the victim’s garage on fire. First Responders found the homeowner, 54 year old Ricky A. McEvoy, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound near the home.
Investigators with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office believe that the fire was set by the victim and that his injuries were the result of a self-inflicted gunshot. No one else was home at the time of the incident.
The victim’s body was released to the Jackson County Medical Examiner Office for further investigation.
