Wanted Fugitive Arrested in Vehicle Pursuit

04-26-19On Thursday April 25 around 3:00 pm a deputy with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for a registration violation in the area of E. 275th and S. Brickplant Rd near Harrisonville. When the deputy activated his emergency equipment the driver took off at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued south on Brookhart Drive and the South East Outer Road where the driver forced another vehicle off the road.

The pursuit continued south of Harrisonville where the driver eventually stopped near State Route DD and E. 289th. Two subjects were taken into custody without further incident. There were no reported injuries.

During the pursuit, the driver and passenger threw items out of the vehicle. Deputies and a Sheriff’s Office K9 team recovered the items, believed to be narcotics and drug paraphernalia, after a search.

The driver, Matthew S. Joiner, 50, Drexel Mo was arrested on the following warrants:

  • Probation Violation – Possession Controlled Substance, Bates County, bond $5,000.00
  • Failure to Appear on Domestic Assault 4th, Cass County, bond $4,000.00
  • Failure to Appear on Driving While Revoked, Cass County, bond $250.00
  • Failure to Appear on Register Motor Vehicle, Cass County, bond $250.00
  • Operated Motor Vehicle While Revoked, Cass County, bond $250.00

Matthew Joiner is also charged in this incident with Resisting Arrest by Fleeing, E Felony. His bond was set at $7500.00 cash only. The passenger in the vehicle was questioned and released.

Matthew Joiner is currently in custody at the Cass County Jail. He is being held on a total bond of $17,250.00.
