Major Kevin Tieman,
Cass County Sheriff’s Office

On Wednesday around 11:00 a.m. deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle in the 2000 block of Meadowlark Drive in Harrisonville. After a brief chase the vehicle became disabled at the intersection of Meghan Drive and Meadowlark Drive. The driver fled from the vehicle and ran into a field south of the neighborhood.

Over twenty law enforcement officers from the Harrisonville Police Department and Cass County Sheriff’s Office surrounded and searched the area with the assistance of two Cass County K9 Teams and UAV. At around 12:00 p.m. the subject was located by a Cass County Sheriff’s Office K9 team hiding in a pond partially submerged under the water. He was taken into custody and evaluated by EMS, then transported to the Cass County Jail.

“The quick response of deputies and officers gave us the ability to surround an area that the suspect could not escape. The extremely hot temperature made this manhunt more dangerous. The fact that the suspect was contained and located within our search area shows what good training and multi-agency cooperation can do,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

The subject, Jesse D. Fair, 21, Harrisonville is wanted by numerous agencies on active warrants.
