Cass County, MO – Members of the Cass County Tactical Team were on hand at the Harrisonville Walmart Bank Mid-West Saturday collecting toys for the Cass County Toy Shop. Deputies from Cass County in full tactical gear stood prepared outside the Bank Midwest, but they weren’t there to safeguard the money. Instead the team members were standing watch over the Toy Shop tree and collection box. Deputies spent around four hours talking with shoppers and collecting donations of toys for local children. “All of the toys collected will go to the Cass County Toy Shop who will distribute them to families in Cass County” said Cpl. Kevin Tieman.
This is the first year for the Cass County Toy Shop to work with Walmart, Bank Midwest, and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office together. Pina Murphy of the Cass County Toy Shop said, “The SWAT team collected 93 toys, which is really astounding. We have so many families that are in need of help this year.” The Toy Shop collects donations throughout the year and accepts toys for children, food donations, and monetary contributions.
