On 12-15-12 Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, along with Officer’s from Drexel Police Department, participated in the “Shop with a Deputy” program at the Harrisonville Wal-Mart. Law Enforcement officials escorted around 20 children from around the Cass County area to purchase Christmas presents for them and their families. Funds for these presents were obtained thru a grant from Wal-Mart, various charitable organizations, and local contributions.
After completing the event, Deputies decided to dig into their own pockets and each pick a name off of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree. Deputies then hit the isles again to purchase presents for seven additional kids. “It warms my heart to see our Deputies donating their time and money for charity,” said Cass County Honor Guard Commander Sergeant Claibourn.
“Shop with a Cop” is an annual program organized by Chief Jon Carpenter and the Drexel Police Department.
